01 Jun Set Up Google Analytics for Your site and Start Tracking Your Visitors
Whether you create your own site, or get an agency – like Digiseed, to create the site for you it’s so important to set up and use a Google Analytics account. Be sure that even if this is setup by the agency or developer that you always maintain the rights and access to the account. That way if you want to change over to another agency, or just manage and analyse your results yourself, you will always be in control.
It’s really easy to set up your account if you don’t already have one.
All you need to get started is a Google account (like a gmail account), and you’re ready to go.
Step 1. Navigate to Google Analytics
Go to: https://www.google.com/analytics/
Step 2. Sign in
Click on the top right green button to sign in
If you’re already logged into a Google Account you will automatically be signed in using that account. If not, use your gmail email address and password to log in
Step 3. Create your account
Once you’ve clicked Sign Up, you’ll be guided through the New Account process.
Enter the name of the account, your website name and address and time zone you are in and which industry you are in.
Step 4. Copy your code
Google will then create and issue your site with a tracking code and script. Pass that on to your developer and let them add it the right place in your site and you will be good to go!
